Fall 2014 Runway Inspired Makeup

fall feature

Although I’ll always be a fan of the rich oxblood lips from last fall season, there is a whole new array of makeup trends to get excited for with this season. Splashes of metallic, glowing skin, shades of emerald, the 1990’s brown lip, big lashes and super lined and defined eyes are just a few of the fall runway trends I pulled inspiration from to create this sultry makeup look.

Since this makeup look focuses mainly on the eye area, I started applying my eyeshadow first so I could easily wipe away any fallout without interfering with my foundation. I primed the eyes with concealer and then swept a mid-toned brown shadow into the crease using windshield wiper motions. I then packed on an emerald green shade all over the lid just up to the crease. For a fall metallic pop of color I added a silvery taupe metallic shade to the center of the lid and blended it gently into the emerald green color. After, I lined my upper and lower lash line with a black kohl pencil. I used the same pencil to line inside my upper and lower waterline to create the extremely defined look popular for this fall. I topped it all off by applying a thick pair of false lashes and bonded the real and fake lashes together with mascara.

I prepped my skin with an energy boosting eye cream and facial lotion and then used a foundation that would give me the luminous skin popular for this fall. To cover my dark circles, I used a thick concealer on my under eye area and blended it into the skin. To set the area, I applied a translucent setting powder on top. For the appearance of healthy skin, I contoured and bronzed anywhere the sun would naturally hit my face, like the hollows of my cheeks, temples, jaw line and nose. A warm mauve shade was then applied, focusing on the back part of my cheeks and sweeping upward. To further emphasize glowing skin, I dusted a radiant cheek highlight on the tops of my cheekbones, center of my nose and cupid’s bow. Finally, I topped the whole look off with a brown-nude lip reminiscent of the 1990’s. I first lined my lips with a warm brown-nude and topped it off with a caramel brown lipstick.
