Juicy Couture "Gold Couture" | Fall Fragrance

Fall Fragrance- Juicy Couture

I've never been one for the typical flowery, girly scent. If it smells like an explosion of flowers, you can bet I'm running the opposite direction. In the spring and summer, I'm drawn to a clean, I-just-got-out-of-the-shower sort of smell or bright scents with notes of citrus. In the fall and winter, I'm all about the sexy musks. The new Juicy Couture "Gold Couture" fragrance hit the nail on the head for me and I know I'll be spritzing this baby all over my sexy post-partum bod for the rest of the colder months (if it ever decides to get cold in Florida).

I personally think this is a huge leap for the brand concerning their line of fragrances. They just always seemed to air on the more girly and whimsical side to me. It's really nice to see them delve into a richer, sexier scent that's alluring and sultry instead of charming. The fragrance has a lavish amber and melted caramel/vanilla sort of deepness to its' bouquet with a refreshing note of berries. I can also smell just a hint of jasmine and sandalwood that makes this perfume intense and intoxicating.

Juicy Couture did a really great job matching the scent to the look and feel of the bottle. The gold and deep honey colors of the glass bottle almost hint to the rich and indulgent scent inside. I like how they created a bottle that looks mature and glamorous but with a touch of feminine flair. What girl doesn't love pink, pretty cursive script and lacy bows? While a bow in itself is girly you can really tell they did some thinking there by choosing a black, almost fishnet appearance. I'm probably overanalyzing now but I just love when you can tell a great deal of consideration and thought went into the production of something. I just think its a great combination of sexy, glamorous, edgy and girly. Another point goes to the Juicy Couture house (heyyy Harry Potter fans) simply because I can use this as a show piece on my vanity as well. I keep it in a mirrored tray along with my other perfumes and this is definitely the show stopper. Packaging really is a selling point for many girls and so it's wonderful when beauty products enter the two worlds of purpose and decor piece. Maybe it's my advertising major talking, but it's really refreshing to see a brand understand the mind of their consumer.

Penhaligon's "Peoneve" Fragrance

Recently, I was invited to attend the VIP grand opening of Penhaligon's new fragrance, Peoneve. The event was called "The Garden Party" and was held at one of the Harvey Nichols store locations in London. Penhaligon's is a popular English perfumery in London which was established in 1870 (Victorian Era).

The theme of the party was entirely reflective of the new floral smelling fragrance, and so they had larger than life bright pink plastic flowers everywhere, metal dragonflies, beautiful arrangements of different flowers and plants and white iron grated chairs and tables to evoke the sense of being in an English garden.
Penhaligon's Garden Party: I'm the one with the leopard print umbrella! =)

The food and drink was also garden themed as the champagne and cocktails smelled and tasted like roses and different types of fruits. They even served some of the drinks in the actual perfume bottles and sprinkled rose petals in them. They also served little mini grilled vegetables, sandwiches, and fresh strawberries with cream. All of the food and drink was incredibly fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. There were actually a lot of fashion and beauty bloggers at the event and so I enjoyed meeting them all and enjoying the great food and atmosphere.

The New Scent:
The new scent was inspired by a summer-time English garden and smells of the velvety Peony flower. I received the perfume in a gift bag when I was leaving the garden party. The scent is very, very floral smelling, so if you like flowery scents, this one is definitely for you. However, I noticed that this perfume is particularly strong for an eau-de-toilette and so I think that one spray is more than enough to last all day. Any more than that I find to be a bit overpowering. I am the type of person that prefers fruity and musky smelling scents, so this perfume wasn't really my taste. However, I found the packaging to be so adorable with its pretty pink and purple hues and the little bow adorning the feminine glass bottle. This perfume is due to release in Penhaligon's stores and online September 2012.
