As a pregnant lady, sometimes it's hard to find a balance between wanting to feel comfortable (usually meaning minimal effort) and wanting to look like a glamorous babe. After all, the introduction of a baby usually means little time to oneself. My seasoned mommy friends have advised me to treasure moments of "me" time and pampering while I still can. Also it's always nice to feel pretty even when you're feet are swollen like aunt Betsy's prize-winning melons and you've forgotten what it's like to see those things called "toes."
I find that I can meet myself in the middle by choosing luxurious feeling products that are simple and quick to use. The products I've been loving recently have helped me to feel "casually glam" if you will. They all lend a little helping hand to making this mommy feel effortless yet chic and pulled together.
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Cleansing Gel- This is the first Peter Thomas Roth product I have ever used and I am in LOVE. The cleanser is formulated with rose stem cells and rose extracts and works deep in your skin to repair dullness, texture and signs of aging. A little goes a long way and I massage a dime-sized drop of this all over my face as apart of my nightly skin care routine. I absolutely adore the fresh rosy scent. It's one of those feel-good products that feels like an indulgent spa treatment. My skin looks and feels better than it has in a long time!
It's a 10 Miracle Shine Spray- I love the it's a 10 line of products since I feel that they really do live up to the 10 things promised on the back. Few brands now adays live up to their "miracle" promises so it's certainly a breath of fresh air when one refrains from the temptation of false advertising. I spray this in my hair as a quick, healthy boost for my locks before I rush out the door on most days. It adds shine, improves hair elasticity, nourishes with antioxidants, protects hair from heat styling, minimizes frizz, seals in moisture, and a whole array of benefits. It's definitely a "10" to me!
Eyelure #107 Lashes- These have recently taken the place of my favorite Ardell wispies. I love their flirtatious curl and how easily they sit on the lash line. They not only feel light-weight and airy, but look so glamorous without looking like a ridiculous butterfly has perched on your eyeballs.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Palette- I felt like I was on the quest for Camelot to find this stunner. I got the very last one in Ulta and I actually told the highly perplexed and amused looking Ulta representative that "I loved her FOREVERRR!!!!" I am a huge fan of warm colors--especially earth- toned browns and jewel-toned brights. This palette is probably the closest match to how I would design a palette made just for me. It delivers on all of those favorite warm hues of mine. This will definitely be a staple product for this fall so watch out for some tutorials in the near future (hint, hint *I'm coming back to you, Youtube!*)
Becca Shimmering Perfector in "Opal"- I just can't stop loving on this. It sounds kind of pathetic (because it is) but sometimes I'll just take this out to simply gaze at its breathtaking beauty. On or off the skin, it shines gorgeously in the light. It gives the skin a stunning, luminous glow that is just unparalleled compared to any highlighter that I've used in the past. The color is just perfect for any skin tone with its champagne luster and fine golden flecks of brilliance. People will literally stop me in the street to ask me how I got such bright and luminous skin (and I don't even have great skin). I know it sounds like I'm exaggerating, but you seriously don't understand the sheer amazingness unless you own one yourself!
Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20 in "Quenched"- I never understood the Baby Lips craze but now I get it. This is my first product from that line and I really like it so far! It's super moisturizing, has cute packaging, and protects my lips from the harsh summer rays.
NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in "Dione"- You might have seen me lusting after these babies in my most recent My Little Beauty Beast segment. Oh. my. GOSH I finally got one and let me tell you--I was NOT let down. The metallic shimmer is simply to die for. I've never seen anything quite like it and I can see why the price is so hefty. I got the color "Dione", a champagne-silver shade that is just breath taking. I love to use this as an all-over color for the lid.

Outfit of the Day!

This is the outfit that I wore to go to the Louboutin Design Museum in London. I have been loving the color red for this summer and so I used that as the pop of color in the outfit and then chose a neutral black and white striped t-shirt. I paired that with black studded flats to match the black of the shirt and the rose-gold jewelry. The off-white cardigan was worn to compliment the white in the shirt (and it was chilly!)

Christian Louboutin Design Museum!

Today I went on an adventure to shoe PARADISE.

No, literally. I walked into the room and my heart stopped, knees went weak, and my inner shoe "soul" died and went to heaven. Ok, it wasn't nearly that dramatic but lets just say that every girly particle of me was very pleased and impressed. This exhibit that was filled with all kinds of glorious shoes was the Christian Louboutin Design Museum near London Bridge along the Thames Riverfront. I found out about this gem from my good friend who happened to be staying in London at the same time as me. We both had a great time learning about the life and work of Christian Louboutin and admiring all of the shoes on display from his past and current collections.

Thoughts on the museum:

Pros:

  • large showroom filled with beautiful, finely crafted and interesting shoes
  • quotes from Louboutin's life written on the walls gave the room character
  • small room with timeline and history of his personal life, work and inspiration
  • 3D mini Burlesque show (corny but cute and highlighted theme of sexy shoes for women)
  • shoes arranged in fun and interesting ways (shoes hung from strings, lined up down a runway, etc.)
Cons:
  • too expensive (10 English pounds) for the small size of the museum (only 2 floors)
  • the second floor of the museum was not very interesting and did not seem to fit in with the theme of the shoes
  • location was hard to find because it was tucked away behind little side streets
Overall the museum was amazing but I wish it would have been bigger. I think that it would have been a great idea to incorporate more designers and perhaps have a section or floor for other designer's work like Louis Vuitton or other designers who are well known for their shoes and accessories.
My overall grade for the museum is a B+/A-

Nail of the Day: Cajun Shrimp by OPI

Bonjour mes amies!

So I fully realize that as far as my blog goes for the past 2 months, I have...erm...failed. Miserably. At the beginning of this summer, I was completing my French minor on a Study Abroad trip to Cannes, France. Lets just say that the Wifi connection was not really of this century at the apartment complex where we were staying. Combine that with classes everyday and tons of homework and studying and blogging became next to impossible. After my program, I met up with my family in London and went on a short 3 day vacation to Portugal. Currently, I am back in London and am VERY excited to start an internship with DHM advertising agency in Soho which is apart of a really fun, dynamic and fashion-forward area of London. I cant wait to take the tube everyday and live the fast pace city life of London.

Anyways, my excuses end here because I am currently staying with my aunt and so I now have perfect Wifi connection and a bunch of fresh and exciting topics to talk about. =)

Today I am doing a Nail of the Day (NOTD)

Opi Cajun Shrimp NLL64

The nails I have been wearing ever since I got back to London is the color Cajun Shrimp by OPI. It is a matte coral/orange red that is perfect for this summer since coral-ly hues has been so popular. I see this color all the time on the nail-polish rack when I get my nails done and its always the first color that I am drawn towards because it is such an eye-catching and unique looking red. This also happens to be my best friend's absolute favorite color by OPI and she is always raving about it so I finally decided to gets my nails done this color. I have been wearing it now for about 4 days and it hasn't chipped yet, so I am happy about the wear of it so far. I will let you know exactly how long it wears and when it begins to chip on my next NOTD. This nail-polish retails for $8.99 but you can buy it much cheaper on websites like Amazon since it is not a color from a newer collection. OPI also sells these nail-polishes in Ulta Beauty stores, on the OPI official website, and in many nail salons.

This color has been so popular that OPI even made a gel version of this polish which is supposed to last much longer than the original polish, have a smoother and shinier finish, and protect your nails from harmful UV rays.

Again, sorry for the long absence!

Urban Decay Releases New, Reformulated Eyeshadows

Urban Decay has announced its launch of their NEW and "revamped" eyeshadow line. I know, I know...big deal, right?  But oh no, these are not your typical, regular every day eyeshadows. Urban decay has completely changed EVERYTHING about their old eyeshadows, and in the process have set the bar for every cosmetic brand in general.

These incredible eyeshadows have been completely reformulated to create the softest and creamiest texture, intense and vivid color that will knock your socks off, beautiful and no-effort blendability, and long-lasting, smudgeproof and crease proof all-day and night wear. They say that the secret is their new Pigment Infusion System which has special ingredients that hold tightly to color and ensure a smooth and  beautiful finish every time. The new formula also prevents fallout which is when the eyeshadow falls off the eyelid and onto other parts of the face during the day or night. Not only that, but if you're a fan of sparkle and shimmer, this is the eyeshadow of your DREAMS. The formula makes sure that the sparkles and shimmers stay put on your lids until you choose to wash it off at night.
But wait, it gets BETTER. Urban Decay has created 68 eyeshadow shades with this new formula that includes their "oldie but goodie" shades that everyone loves and shades that were previously only available in their popular "Naked" and "Naked 2" Palettes. So now consumers can pick and choose which shades they like the most instead of buying the full palettes. There are also five different finishes to choose from, so no matter what your preference, Urban Decay has got you covered. The finishes include matte, duotone, satin, shimmer, and sparkle.
Last but not least, Urban Decay has even created new and improved packaging for all of their 68 shades. Their old "subway token" packaging is now sleeker and more gorgeous than ever. Better yet, the new packaging now allows consumers to "pop" the eyeshadow out of its casing and put it in your own custom palette for traveling purposes. These empty palettes have room for six eyeshadows and are made out of strong and sturdy material so you can be assured that your little babies are safe and sound during your escapades to far-off lands. You can switch out these eyeshadows as many times as you want to create new looks. The contents and packaging are also eco-friendly and Urban Decay refuses to test on animals so your purchase is guilt free and safe for the environment.
If you're wondering where in the world you can get these new Urban Decay eyeshadows, your out of luck. But don't fret, because although these new eyeshadows don't hit stores for awhile, they ARE selling them through select retailers online. They run out fast, so don't miss your chance!

How to be a Tanned Goddess this Summer!

Hello lovelies!

With spring and summer speeding its way towards us, its time to fold away the winter clothes and hang up our sun dresses, shorts, and bikinis! With warmer weather, we usually wear climate appropriate clothing thats shows off some more skin. So, we are all normally more conscious of what our legs and arms look like.

If you want a glowing, natural looking tan without the health risks of sun damage, you definitely should look into getting the St. Tropez tanning mousse. This is the best product for sunless tanning that I have ever used! It doesn't look orange on the skin, lasts a long time, is buildable in coverage, and doesn't streak or smell absolutely horrible like most sunless tanners. If you want to buy this product, I have provided the links below and also a great video review on the product by one of my favorite gurus! =]

St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse

What the website says:
This super-lightweight, easy-to-apply, velvety mousse delivers the ultra-even allover tan you've always wanted. Infused with conditioning aloe vera and long-lasting color-you'll have a perfectly natural-looking, streak-free tan that dries in an instant. Innovative Aromaguard fragrance technology eliminates the tell-tale self-tan aroma by a minimum of 70% and instead gives a subtle yet refreshing fragrance. Created by St. Tropez, the tanning experts you trust to get it right. So whatever your skin type, it's easy to use for the ultimate tan.

love to all my bronzed beauties!!!

Oscars Inspired Makeup Look!

Hey everyone!

So here is the Oscars inspired makeup look that I have been working on!

Products used:
Eyes:
- NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk
- MAC eyeshadow in Nylon
-MAC eyeshadow in Soft Brown
-MAC eyeshadow in Swiss Chocolate
- Dior Liquid Liner in Black
-Bad Gal Lash Mascara by Benefit

Lips:
-MAC lipstick in Half n' Half
-MAC lipliner in Beurre

Face:
- Revlon ColorStay foundation in Sandy Beige
- MAC mineralize skin finish in light
- NARS Laguna Bronzer
- MAC Breath of Plum blush
- ELF highlighter

Directions:

Eyes:
Use a primer to prime your lids (to make sure the makeup stays on all day long) and then take NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk and apply all over the lid just up to the crease. (This will make your eyeshadow show up brighter and more true to color) Then take MAC's Nylon eyeshadow and apply that all over the lid as well. Then take MAC's soft brown and apply that in the crease of your eye with windshield wiper motions. Apply MAC's swiss chocolate to the outer corner of your eye. Then, taking a clean blending brush, blend all of the colors together so that none of the colors are too stark and unnatural looking. If some colors fade out too much, add more where needed. After that, apply Dior liquid liner starting from the middle of the eye to the outer corner. Let dry for a few seconds and then proceed to wing out your liner a bit. (There are great tutorials on youtube to teach how to do winged out liner but I will do a separate tutorial on that as well.) Then apply some thick coats of mascara for dramatic lashes!

Lips:
Line your lips with MAC's Beurre (you can follow your natural lipline or slightly overdraw your lips to make them look fuller) Then apply MAC's Half n' Half and blot with a tissue.

Face:
Apply foundation all over face with a foundation brush and then set with face powder so it stays on all day. Then apply Laguna bronzer following below the cheekbones and up to the temples. (this will slim down your face and make the illusion that your cheekbones are higher) Then apply blush to the apples of the cheeks and blend in with the bronzer a bit. Lastly, apply highlight to the top of the cheekbones (also to make cheekbones look higher and give you a fresh, healthy look)
Always remember that you are beautiful!! =]

    Playful/Cute Trend! Mustache Rings!

    Hey dolls! =]

For quite some time now, I have seen the funny and popular "mustache" trend pretty much everywhere... from t-shirts even to getting mustache tattoos on your fingers! So when I saw this trend circulating, I definitely "LOLed" for a good minute...and then decided that I totally want one!

Recently, even celebrities such as Vanessa Hudgens have been seen sporting this cute and quirky fashion trend:

The particular ring that Vanessa Hudgens is wearing is the Mr. Kate Logo Knuckle Ring which is a double-finger ring. The website says that it "sits across two fingers. The Mr. Kate Logo Knuckle Ring proves fashion is still fun!"

    The "Anne-Marie" Beauty Awards (HAIR)

    Hey beauties! <3

This is the third section to the "Anne-Marie Beauty Awards of 2011" that involves my favorite and most used hair products from the past year. All of these products helped to make my hair full, shiny, healthy and protected so I hope you will enjoy them too!

    HAIR AWARDS:

    SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER AWARD:

JOHN FRIEDA FULL REPAIR SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
I really enjoyed using this shampoo and conditioner throughout the year. Even though it is advertised for "damaged hair" (which I don't really have) I bought it because I figured that it would make my "regular" hair even better! I have been really happy with this product because it has made my hair so soft and healthy looking. The conditioner is extra moisturizing too! The best thing is that these are available at almost any drugstore, pharmacy, and even many grocery stores. So when you run out (from loving the product so much) you can conveniently race back to those stores for more! =p

    HAIR MASK AWARD:

OJON DAMAGE REVERSE RESTORATIVE HAIR TREATMENT PLUS
This hair mask is he absolute bomb.com! =p You notice a difference after only one night of using it! I have found that I get the best results from this product by taking a quarter sized amount and warming the product with both of my hands (it starts out as a paste and the warmth of your fingers turns it into an oil) and then starting from the ends, working the oil through my hair to the roots. I then tie my hair up in a bun and sleep on it for a night and wash the product out thoroughly in the morning. I swear it looks like you have grown a whole new set of hair!
(You can find this product at Sephora stores and online only)

    "Locks" of love!

    Low Calorie Sweet Treat!

    Hey beautiful people! =]

So I (like many of us) usually get the late night muchies and want to snack on something sweet. However, it is best to refrain from eating high calorie foods (such as foods that are high in sugar, fat, or salt content) after 8 PM because after that time our metabolisms drastically slow down and so what we eat converts into bad fats.
So..a great way to still fit into your skinny jeans yet combat those late night hunger pains is this low calorie and healthy, yet delicious and sweet snack......

    FROZEN YOGURT STRAWBERRIES

These are easy to make right at home! All you need is a carton of fresh strawberries and your favorite flavor of yogurt!

    DIRECTIONS:
    - pour yogurt into a bowl and evenly coat each strawberry in yogurt (make sure layers are of decent thickness)
-place the yogurt strawberries in a bowl (not touching each other) and then put in the freezer for 5 or 6 hours
-take them out and let sit for a few minutes (so its not too hard or cold)
    -Enjoy!!!
(tip: sticking toothpicks or skewers into the top of the strawberry makes it easier to eat!)

    Strawberry kisses!

    The "Anne-Marie" Beauty Awards (EYES)

    Hey dolls! =]

This is the next (continued and long awaited) segment of the 2011 "Anne-Marie" Beauty Awards. This particular segment will focus on my favorite eye products from the past year. These are all products that I used/enjoyed the most throughout 2011!

    So without further ado....

    EYE BEAUTY AWARDS

    EYESHADOW AWARD (CREASE)

    MAC EYESHADOW IN SOFT BROWN
This color is a light-warm brown that is so soft and beautiful and a great color to use in the crease of the eye-lid. When used along with other colors, it is great for transitioning darker colors together for a well-blended eyeshadow look.

    EYESHADOW AWARD (LID)

MAKEUP FOREVER AQUA CREAM (SHADE 13)
This is my absolute favorite color to wear as an all-over lid color. It is a beautiful champagne color and catches the light so beautifully. It is super long lasting and doesn't ever crease!

    EYESHADOW AWARD (INNER CORNER)

    MAC EYESHADOW IN FIG 1
This eyeshadow is the perfect deep plum hue. It looks incredible paired with blue or green eyes and really brings depth to the eyelids. You can also use MAC eyeshadow in "Carbon"to deepen and darken this color more for a smokier effect. (MAC "Carbon" is a matte deep black eyeshadow)

    LIQUID LINER AWARD

    DIORLINER IN BLACK
I have never EVER found a liquid liner as incredible as this! You can control how much product comes out by turning the pump at the bottom so you never have to waste product or worry about getting eyeliner all over yourself. Not only that, but it has a precision tip which is easy to use and makes it nearly mistake proof! It also lasts forever and is smudge proof once it dries. The color is the perfect dark black shade. Out of all of my favorites on this list, THIS one is my must have!

    PENCIL LINER AWARD

    URBAN DECAY 24/7 LINER
These eyeliners really DO last 24/7! They come in a wide range of beautiful colors so I would recommend all of them! (but I have the black one in shade "zero") They are great to line the top of lashes or in the waterline. They are so creamy and are packed with "good" for you ingredients like jojoba oil to condition your lids and lashes!

    MASCARA AWARD

    BAD GAL LASH BY BENEFIT
First of all, I LOVE the brush/ wand on this mascara. It a big brush so it coats all of your lashes--thickening them and making them long and beautiful. I am also a sucker for the cute packaging!

Hope you enjoy these products as much as I do!

    love and lashes!

Beauty through the Ages: Makeup from the 40's to the 70's!

    Hey beautiful ladies!

While I'm working on my next segment for the "Anne-Marie" 2011 Beauty Awards I thought I would post this incredible video about the progression of makeup from the 40's to the 70's that I found on youtube!

The makeup artist that made this video is called Lisa Eldridge and she is one of my absolute favorite makeup gurus on the internet because she is so professional and always teaches me something new!

Hope you enjoy this video as much as I did!

And here is Lisa's newest video on beauty icon, Marilyn Monroe. In this video, she discloses many of Marilyn's beauty secrets! Now, I have seen ALOT of videos that have attempted to imitate her iconic look but THIS video in particular is the best that I have ever seen. I could tell that a lot of work went into the research behind this video!

    Ta-ta for now! <3

    Anne-Marie

p.s--soon I will post a list of my all-time favorite beauty gurus--these are the women who inspired me to get into beauty, makeup and fashion! =]

The "Anne-Marie" Beauty Awards of 2011!

    Happy New Years everyone! =]

so I am FINALLY getting back to doing blog posts again...I got really busy (and a little lazy =p) and stopped doing them for awhile but now I'm back! So...yay! =]

This is going to be a segment that I do from now on at the end of every year. I will talk about my personal favorite beauty products from that year (products that enjoyed the most and used the most) and a brief description of why =]

During this week I will separate the "Anne-Marie Beauty Awards" into sections so that the posts aren't ridiculously long and boring.

The categories will include Face, Eyes, Lips, Hair and then maybe a random favorites at the end.

This week's category will be FACE products

Well here goes! And the winners are: *drum roll please*.....

    FOUNDATION AWARD:

    REVLON COLORSTAY
This is the absolute BEST. First of all, its drugstore brand and so its not only much cheaper but you can get it way more conveniently than driving all the way to a mall. Secondly, it lasts FOREVER and everrrrrrr on your face and doesn't get dry or cakey looking. It has a velvetey to a matte finish and its medium coverage that can build to a heavier coverage. If you have any imperfections, this covers it perfectly.

    POWDER AWARD:

    MAC MINERALIZE SKIN-FINISH NATURAL
This seals your foundation in and makes sure it stays put all day. This also minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines to give any skin type that "perfect" and "flawless" appearance.

    CONCEALER AWARD:

    HARD CANDY GLAMOFLAUGE CONCEALER
This concealer is one of the best that I have used in a long time. A little bit of product goes a LONG way and so this product will last you forever! It covers SO well but doesn't appear cakey and actually looks really natural.

    BRONZER AWARD:

    NARS LAGUNA BRONZER
This bronzer has won sooooo many awards and for a good reason...because it IS the best. The brown shade is a universal color that suits almost everyone and looks really natural because the powder is so finely milled. It doesn't look orange and gives you a natural sun kissed glow.

    BLUSH AWARD:
    (for fall/winter)

MAC BLUSH IN BREATH OF PLUM
This pink/plummy color is so beautiful on the cheeks for the fall/winter season. It's not too dark and not too bright and looks beautiful on the skin.

    (spring/summer)

    MAC BLUSH IN WELL-DRESSED
This is a gorgeous and feminine color for the spring/summer. It looks especially beautiful on lighter skin tones.

    HIGHLIGHT AWARD:

This highlight is so glowy and natural on the cheekbones. It catches the light so well and gives you a very healthy and alive look.
